Karl Langdon rates the AFL coaches
Who's going to be fired and who's going to be hired?
Chris Scott has to be commended for his start to his coaching career. He inherited a great team at Geelong, but has been able to get the best out of them. 9/10
Mick Malthouse will not be the senior coach at Collingwood next season, but already the Pies have shown the 2010 premiership was no fluke. Malthouse has a resume matched by few and has all the tricks in the book. If I was looking for a coach in 2012, he'd be my first choice. 9/10
Carlton's Brett Ratten entered the 2011 season under more pressure than any coach to get results. Ratten has the Blues playing exciting football, which includes youngsters such as Chris Yarran, Jeff Garlett, David Ellard and mature recruits Nick Duigan and Ed Curnow. After Friday night, I am more convinced they are closer to the real deal. 8/10
Under James Hird, the Bombers are fitter and have addressed a leaking defence while continuing to play attacking football that's a pleasure to watch. 8/10
John Worsfold talked up a group many thought could not take the Eagles up the AFL ladder to save him in his last year of contract. He has got hos players playing inspired pressure football. Worsfold has changed his game plan which involves kicking the football and putting faith in key targets. If West Coast continues to play this way I would have no hesitation in renewing John's contract. 8/10
Mark Harvey has done a sterling job to have the Dockers sitting where they are with all the injuries that they have had. Harvey has to be praised for the development of the younger players that are taking up the slack. 7/10
I thought John Longmire would struggle at Sydney with the departure of Paul Roos, but they continue to tackle as well as any side and never get blown away if they lose. 7/10
Alastair Clarkson has the Hawks playing reasonable football and hasn't been scared to introduce youth. But are they a happy team at Hawthorn? Time will tell. 6/10
Guy McKenna has been unpredictable in his first crack at coaching in the AFL. He hasn't been scared to swing his team around playing blokes such as Nathan Krakouer forward when he's largely been used in defence in his career. McKenna will need time to develop his players and from what I've seen he deserves that chance. 6/10
Dean Bailey has not improved Melbourne from last season. The Demons are playing unattractive, inconsistent football and players are being played out of position far too often.

FRANKSTON is in the market for a partial AFL alignment, with St Kilda emerging as a possible short-term suitor despite its current arrangement with Sandringham. The Dolphins, who are desperate for some AFL talent to help lift them from the bottom of
But she has Budget concerns and the fear of a political backlash from the North opposed to sharing AFL games. "If the Government turns their back on this, they are absolutely stupid," Mr Baker said. "People are crying out for football down here.
It is understood that is one of the reasons new players found it difficult to break into the established side and, more significantly, maintain the spot long enough to get valuable AFL experience. The introduction of youth should be seen as a proactive

Trade Thoughts: The plan was from round 1 was to get G.Ablett at round 10 after GC's 2nd bye, and his score of 198 on the weekend came at a good time for his price to go up in the next 2 weeks. Plan is to downgrade Libba and upgrade Swallow. The hard part is do i Downgrade next week or do i downgrade this week so i dont miss out on a good option like Isaac Smith before his price rises.
