Fast and furious: Teams bring class, sass to crazy dash through downtown LA

The fat-cat bureaucrat wasn't large enough for the Los Angeles Red Bull Soapbox Race.

"The scary part of this fat suit...," said Van Nuys soapbox team driver Paul Pearson, stuffing a giant stomach into jailhouse stripes rented for the run. "It's just not fat enough to be Robert Rizzo."

The wacky race cars are back. Two years after their first gravity dash down Bunker Hill, nearly three dozen race teams will make another mad run through downtown on Saturday.

The non-motorized race will launch each contestant through a 1,000-foot gantlet on Grand Avenue at speeds topping 40 mph.

One car driven by "Angry Bird Droppings." Another led by "Hamster Rampage." And careening wheels of "Bigfoot Bandits."

A hip sushi bar. A hot taco truck. A wagonload of crazy Lakers fans.

Only in Los Angeles.

"It's pretty insane," said Scott Houston, a spokesman for Red Bull, the Austrian energy drink giant and sponsor of the soapbox race. "This Saturday, it's probably the most fun you'll have in Los Angeles."

To win, each team must survive two jumps and a 90-degree chicane turn for the fastest time to Pershing Square, while also vying for creativity and flare.

Celebrity judges will include "American Idol" DJ Blake Lewis, actress Candice Accola of "Vampire Diaries" and Latin percussionist Sheila E.

Of three San Fernando Valley-based 'boxers, only one race team has "Gone Gaga."

Last year some Burbank-based teenage girls sailed a marshmallow Peep off the Long Beach pier, winning the Red Bull Flugtag race.

This year, they will go Lady Gaga in an egg while wearing a famous Gaga carne dress.

"We're going very Gaga," said driver Corinne Schnieders, 20, adding that her team will warble Lady Gaga like gaga. "None of us can sing."

Another set of racers, most of them women, hails from Cal State Northridge. The "Dream Team" of genies and NASA astronauts will launch a magic bottle based on the classic 1960s sitcom "I Dream of Jeannie."

"It's going to be fast, fabulous and magical," declared co-driver Anna Teplitskaya, 22, who will wear a pink vest and pantaloons. "We're going to look awesome."

But it was at the small movie prop shop near the Bud Lite plant that contained a more nefarious team.

Many Indian women are blessed with those curves and trust me, women with curves look way better than those no-flesh-kinda-size-zero-chicks! And I am sure that you all will agree with me on this when you answer this question for yourself – Which Kareena do you prefer? The curvy and chubby Poo or the bikini clad, size zero hottie wherein her cheek bones were clearly visible!

 My personal favourites are Pushtiie S and Delnaz. Pushtiie recently played the lead role in YRF’s TV series Mahi Way. Mahi Talwar.. An inspiration to many girls around the globe. She likes to keep it simple, yet she looks very elegant. Delnaz is another pretty face on Tv. She danced like a dream on Nach Baliye. So what if you are fat? You can still get those moves. And as far as her styling is concerned, she is always very well dressed. Be it a party dress or an Indian outfit, she looks perfect always! Most of them are under an impression that plus size women should restrict themselves and wear only limited things. But why?? Wear everything that you think you should wear. Stop being so conscious about what others think about you.

Five quick tips to save all you pretty ladies from going wrong :

- Wear your Size : Don’t buy a bigger size, it will make you look more bulky. Also, never wear tight clothes. They   don’t make you look good at all. So, wear your size, properly tailored and make sure they have vertical lines which gives you a slim look.

- Avoid A line : Those Anarkalis, the Empire cut dress, A line skirts and the denims with A line bottoms are a big NO! Always were straight fit clothes, they make you look thin.
